About Maverick Collective
Maverick Collective is a philanthropic community for women with means and purpose to learn, invest, and take action together on advancing health and equity in the U.S. and around the world.
Maverick Collective was founded in 2013 by global health organization Population Services International (PSI), Melinda French Gates, and leading women philanthropists. In January 2026, we became an independent organization with an expanded mission driven by deep field partnerships and a vibrant member community.
Maverick Collective is for women who are ready to move from intention to action, from passive to purposeful, from writing occasional checks to learning and building something that compounds over time. Members engage through tailored programming, hands-on learning, and experiences with one another and with the communities they invest in; all rooted in values of boldness, curiosity, collaboration, and joy.
Maverick Collective is led by two Managing Partners in a co-leadership model that embodies our ethos of shared power and collaboration. We are building a lean and high-functioning team that can move and adapt quickly, experiment creatively, and inspire new models of working; all while holding ourselves to the highest standard of performance and organizational culture.
The Role
Maverick Collective is looking for a Senior Manager of Experience who brings an uncommon combination of creative vision and operational excellence. This role draws on many disciplines — experiential marketing, luxury hospitality, learning design, brand strategy, client success — and the right candidate may have built their career in any one of them, or across several. What matters is not the title you have held, but the range you bring. This is not a role for someone who works from a template. We are looking for someone who approaches every gathering — whether an intimate dinner, a global convening, or a virtual learning session — as a bespoke opportunity to deepen connection, spark action, and bring the Maverick essence to life in a way that is fresh, resonant, and impossible to replicate elsewhere.
The best experiences don't follow a script. They are designed around the people taking part, the moment we are in, and what becomes possible when both align. We are looking for someone who understands this intuitively — who brings the instinct for hospitality, surprise, and meaning that turns an experience into something people carry with them long after it ends. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to design high-touch experiences that build lasting connection, not by replicating what has worked before, but by asking what this moment, community, and purpose demands.
Equally important is the ability to hold the full arc. The Senior Manager of Experience will work hand-in-hand with the Managing Partners on overall experience strategy and design and will own the execution. You will lead our full programming portfolio: Maverick-produced in-person events, presence at key global convenings, Deep Learning & Investment Cohort experiences, and virtual programming. You report directly to a Managing Partner and are expected to lead from the front.
What You'll Do
Experience Design & Creative Direction
- Collaborate with the Managing Partners to set strategy and design the Maverick member experience across the organization’s key programs — bringing vision, range, and creative ambition to everything we produce.
- Approach each experience as a bespoke creation: calibrated to the audience, adapted to the moment, and reflective of what makes Maverick Collective distinct. Never templated. Always intentional.
- Design and execute retreats, regional in-person gatherings, intimate member events, and a regular virtual programming cadence.
- Coordinate Maverick Collective’s presence at key global convenings, curating learning and engagement experiences that go beyond attendance and deepen the impact of our work.
- Work closely with the Managing Partners and institutional counterparts to deliver experiential learning opportunities with frontline leaders and global issue area experts.
- Develop learning agendas, briefing materials, and experience frameworks that are rigorous, engaging, and worthy of our members' time.
Member Relations & Community
- Serve as the primary relationship steward for Maverick Collective members — anticipating needs, personalizing the experience, and holding a consistently exceptional standard of responsiveness, warmth, and care.
- Know the community well enough to design for it with specificity: understanding what different members need, how they engage, and how to surprise and deepen connection across a diverse and discerning audience.
- Communicate fluidly across internal and external stakeholders — from team members and members to institutional partners, vendors, and speakers — calibrating tone and approach for each.
- Draft member-facing communications, including event invitations, briefing books, program updates, and follow-up materials that reflect the warmth and quality of the Maverick brand.
- Steward ongoing relationships with partners and vendors to ensure a consistently high-quality, high-touch experience at every touchpoint.
Operations & Execution
- Develop and manage program budgets, tracking expenses with accuracy and ensuring programming is delivered within agreed parameters.
- Own the full arc of every experience — from first concept through final documentation — ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and every detail is accounted for.
- Manage end-to-end logistics for all programs: venue sourcing, travel coordination, vendor management, and all pre- and post-event planning, across both US domestic and international settings.
- Maintain thorough records, resource libraries, and documentation for each program — a mark of rigor that ensures institutional memory and operational continuity.
- Manage project timelines across multiple concurrent programs with precision and proactivity.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and production partners to deliver polished, seamless experiences.
- Work with the team on maintaining digital platforms to deliver equally strong online experiences.
Who We're Looking For
- 7-10 years of experience across one or more relevant disciplines: experiential marketing, luxury or high-touch event design, learning design, brand experience, client success, or a related field.
- Genuine creative ambition — you push the limits of what an experience can be and have work that demonstrates it.
- A client success orientation: you design for differentiated audiences with precision and care.
- The ability to lead both vision and execution — to contribute meaningfully at the strategy level and then see it through to the last detail.
- Strong stakeholder fluency: comfortable working across a range of internal and external audiences, from intimate member relationships to institutional partners, vendors, and speakers.
- A hospitality mindset: you believe the experience is the product, and you invest in every detail accordingly.
- Excellent written communication skills. Able to write clearly, warmly, and with sophistication for a discerning audience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills. Able to run multiple complex workstreams simultaneously without losing precision.
- Experience producing virtual events and fluency with digital platforms and tools.
- Familiarity with or deep curiosity about the issues Maverick Collective works on — health equity, women's economic empowerment, climate resilience, and more. You don't need to be a sector expert, but you need to care.
- Comfort operating in a lean, fast-moving environment where ambiguity is part of the job and initiative is expected.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as programs require.
- BA/BS required; relevant advanced degree a plus.
What We Offer
- A front-row seat at a pivotal moment in Maverick Collective's evolution — with real creative ownership from day one.
- Close collaboration with co-leaders at a small, high-trust organization.
- Exposure to the world of philanthropy, social impact, and women’s leadership.
- Access to extraordinary convenings, remarkable members, and a community of women changemakers doing serious work with joy.
- Competitive nonprofit compensation and benefits.
