About Maverick Collective
Maverick Collective is a philanthropic community for women with means and purpose to learn, invest, and take action together on advancing health and equity in the U.S. and around the world.
Maverick Collective was founded in 2013 by global health organization Population Services International (PSI), Melinda French Gates, and leading women philanthropists. In January 2026, we became an independent organization with an expanded mission driven by deep field partnerships and a vibrant member community.
Maverick Collective is for women who are ready to move from intention to action, from passive to purposeful, from writing occasional checks to learning and building something that compounds over time. Members engage through tailored programming, hands-on learning, and experiences with one another and with the communities they invest in; all rooted in values of boldness, curiosity, collaboration, and joy.
Maverick Collective is led by two Managing Partners in a co-leadership model that embodies our organization’s ethos of shared power and collaboration. We are building a lean and high-functioning team that can move and adapt quickly, experiment creatively, and inspire new models of working; all while holding ourselves to the highest standard of performance and organizational culture.
The Role
The Manager, Operations & Knowledge is a foundational role at a small, ambitious organization. You will own the systems and processes that keep the team organized, informed, and moving -- and you will have real visibility and ownership over how we build and run things. This is a role for someone who understands that the right systems, carefully built and thoughtfully maintained, are what allow a small team to do outsized work. You will own the infrastructure that makes everything else possible.
We are looking for someone who is genuinely drawn to technology — not someone who tolerates it, but someone who sees a new platform or a broken process as an interesting problem worth solving. You approach systems the way others approach creative work: with care, with craft, and with an eye for what could be better. Comfort with AI tools as a means of improving how we work is a plus.
What You'll Do
Knowledge & Technology Management
- Own and maintain workflows in Salesforce to track people and financial data.
- Design and oversee a system for capturing, formatting, and sharing program impact stories.
- Manage and maintain the Maverick Collective website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Administer and optimize additional technology tools across the organization, serving as the internal point person for onboarding, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve how the team operates — and take initiative in building those processes.
- Evaluate whether current tools and platforms are serving the team well, and proactively recommend changes when they aren't.
- Maintain clean, accessible documentation and records so institutional knowledge is organized and retrievable — not living in anyone's inbox.
Communications & Member Outreach
- Send organizational communications on behalf of Maverick Collective using platforms such as Mailchimp or Pardot, including member emails, event invitations, and updates.
- Maintain email lists, distribution groups, and contact records to ensure accurate and timely outreach.
- Support the drafting and formatting of external communications in coordination with the Managing Partners and Senior Manager of Experience.
- Ensure consistency of voice, formatting, and brand standards across all outgoing organizational communications.
Operational Support
- Track incoming and outgoing funds, gift processing, and grant management in coordination with the account team.
- Process invoices in a timely manner and assist with expense tracking and reporting.
- Own day-to-day operational needs — including IT, financial management, and the onboarding of new tools and vendors — ensuring the organization runs smoothly as it grows.
Community & Experience Support
- Work closely with the Senior Manager of Experience to support community-related logistics and operational needs across programming and events.
- Maintain accurate member-facing records and materials in coordination with the Senior Manager of Experience, ensuring information is current and consistent.
- Assist with event coordination tasks including registration management, communications, and pre- and post-event follow-up.
- Contribute to a team culture of collaboration, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Who We're Looking For
- 4-6 years of experience in information management, operations, administration, or a related role, ideally in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
- Proficiency with Salesforce (or a similar CRM).
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Pardot.
- Comfort managing websites and digital content; familiarity with a CMS is a plus.
- A genuine affinity for technology and a willingness — even eagerness — to learn new systems and tools.
- An interest in and comfort with AI tools — not as a buzzword, but as a genuine means of working smarter.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail; you catch things before they become problems.
- Someone who moves toward ambiguity rather than waiting for perfect clarity — you identify what needs to happen and make it happen.
- A team player who communicates clearly, follows through consistently, and makes the people around them better.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive donor and organizational information.
- Genuine comfort operating in a lean, early-stage environment where the job description will evolve and your judgment will be called on constantly.
- Interest in Maverick Collective's mission and the broader philanthropic and social impact space.
What We Offer
- A foundational role at a genuinely new organization — with real ownership over how we build and run things from the ground up.
- Close collaboration with co-leaders at a small, high-trust team where your contributions are visible and valued.
- Exposure to the world of philanthropy, social impact, and women’s leadership.
- Opportunities to grow alongside the organization and take on increasing responsibility over time.
- Competitive nonprofit compensation and benefits.
